Oh, to be home! Part of what's so nice about vacation is the coming home and resting one's head on the pillow. Bliss! There's nowhere on earth I love as much as home.
After 11 days away, and a total of 20 days of guests in our home, today it's just the four of us. My husband is back to work, we've bought groceries to restock the pantry, and it's lightly raining. I haven't accomplished much more than that, but that feels like enough for today.
The kids, after many days of always being together or with cousins, have naturally separated ways for the afternoon. One sits in an overstuffed chair, reading. Another is playing with her baby doll in my window seat. And one is hibernating up in the Lego closet, happy to be alone. It's so quiet, for the first time in so long, and I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be.
I've lit some candles, put on one of my favorite CDs of piano music, and am just enjoying the haven that home is. I can't think of a better finish line, after a long run!
Welcome, July. Let's enjoy each other slowly.

Yes, there's no place like home! Sounds like the kiddos are glad to be home also. Rest, rest, rest!! Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely the best part of leaving is knowing eventually you will come back, I always Treasure that first moment of walking in the back door and soaking up the feel of home.
