Coming Soon(ish)!

I wish I had a really clever way to announce this, but I'm not coming up with anything other than to flat-out say, we're having a baby!

It still feels surreal, but we are actually, really, truly going to have another child.  After a nearly six-year hiatus, it feels like I'm pregnant for the first time again.  Except this time I'm a lot older :)

We don't have a single baby item--not clothing, furniture, toys, or anything!  But all these years I've always said we had an empty chair at the table that needed filled, and now we're going to fill it!  It's going to take a lot of work:  the Happy Room, our schoolroom, will become the boys' room, and the boys' room will be the baby's room, and the location of the new schoolroom is yet to be determined, although I do have a brilliant plan in the making that I'm still working on.  Come summertime, we'll be shuffling all the rooms and figuring it all out, and begging/borrowing all the necessary baby stuff from friends and family who've recently had babies.  By the fourth baby, you see that all the extra stuff just takes up space, and that there's not a whole lot you need.  It's the dark secret Babies 'R Us doesn't want you to know :)

For now, I'm sick as a dog.  This is the sickest I've ever been, and that's saying something, because I've always been really sick.  This time around, even the medicine I take isn't wiping out the nausea, and there are definitely moments when I wonder what on earth we've done . . . But the thought that we are really going to have another child--possibly a sister for Addie?--makes all the room-shuffling, item-borrowing, and nausea-feeling inconsequential.

I still can't believe it!

  5. How exciting!!! We're expecting our fourth after 8 years any day now - so I totally understand what you mean about all that baby stuff! Actually, I'm not supposed to be due for another couple of weeks and our basement renos for the kids to be able to move downstairs so we have a baby room are nowhere near being done, but my dr decided it was time for me to have this little one. I figure there's enough room beside our bed for us to stick a (borrowed) bassinet when we need it. ;)

    Congratulations!!!!!

  10. Glory Be!! Another quiet but long time reader here- may you feel better very soon and enjoy this blessing all the more! Need a schoolroom recommendation? You mentioned a guest house. This year we moved all of our homeschooling paraphernalia out to a cottage on our property and started working out there for a lot of our school projects ( see winghavenschoolhouse.blogspot.com). Such a relief to our house proper! AND we now have friends who join us for special times of study without disturbing our living space. It was a lot of work but so worth it!
Can't wait to meet the little one and praying in the meantime-

  21. Bless your heart! Been there done that with my pregnancies. Each worse than the previous. In fact when I gave birth to my third (final child, doctor's order) our Health Insurance Company sent me a congratulations card. I think they were thrilled not to be paying for Zofran anymore!
I will say that the third child has been the biggest blessing to our family. A little unplanned, a challenge to bring into the world but oh so worth it all. God really knew what he was doing.
Praying that you'll have the energy to face each day. If I lived closer I'd bring over dinner; so you didn't have to smell the food!

  25. Congratulations! What a blessing! I'm a long-time reader, but I don't think I've ever commented before. However, please know that a reader from south GA is praying for you and the sweet little baby on the way. I was sooooo sick (incapacitated) with all mine, but they were more than worth it all. We have six children...almost 21 yo twin daughters, 15yo ds, 12yo dd, 8yo ds, and 'almost' 6yo ds. So ours are spread out over almost 15 years. I really enjoy reading about your family and life, and I'm always so encouraged and inspired! I also get a good laugh. Again, congratulations and I hope you feel better soon. God is good!

  28. I am just simply tickled pink over this news! I have secretly been hoping that you would be telling us this soon. Maybe its because I know how hard of a time you have been having watching the kids grow up. I could hear your mamas heart longing for another one. I HOPE ITS A GIR! by the way. Addie needs a sister.

  30. SARAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I am SOOOOOOOO excited for you and Pace! This is amazing news ☻ ☻

As many have said, I do hope it is a girl so Addie has someone on her side come the teen years :) Even if it is a pesky little sister who does nothing but get in her makeup and clothes and space. Think of all the little girlie things you could make with all the knitting and things you have picked up so voraciously since Addie came along.

Praying for that morning sickness to go away, and fast. I threw up from the moment of conception (no hiding the fact I was preggers, nope!) all the way to delivery. So, I get how ecstatic yet miserable you are ♥

God is good. All the time.

    ♥ you.

  32. Oh Sarah, I am jumping up and down for you!! I have lived this exact story!! There is a six and three-quarter year difference between my youngest daughter and our little caboose...Carter David (21 months old now)! Most people assumed that this was an unplanned surprise for us, but like you, we came to know that there was supposed to be one more "Young"...it just took us a while :) We joke now about the cartwheels God did to make get this little guy on the planet. I can soooo relate to being sick as a dog. I too took medication, and had no relief. And, Girlfriend there were multiple occasions I remember saying outloud, "what were we thinking" (usually while sitting in the bathtub with hormonal tears on my cheeks). My girls grew up so much, and learned to be good little self-starters, taking charge of making breakfast and lunch, helping with more household chores, and on my worst days bringing their schoolwork to my nest on the couch, so I could help them. I gave up feeling guilty about what I couldn't do, and just asked God to use this time to teach them responsibility. Our playroom became a nursery, and we slowly collected all of the baby things we'd given away through the years. Oh my goodness, WHAT A BLESSING our little guy is. We stretch to imagine how we ever lived without him. I still giggle about being back "at square one" with baby paraphanalia around the house again, and carrying a diaper bag at 40! By the way, get yourself an over-the-top cute diaper bag for this last hurrah! Congratulations, you are in for such a treat.

    Hugs from Seattle!
    Lori

  35. Sarah! Yay!! I started clapping my hands and "woo-hooing" when I read "we're having a baby!" My hubby came running and asked what all the excitement was about. I told him and he gave me a look of "you're this excited over someone you've never met." Well, yeah, duh!! I'm so happy for you!! Congratulations!

We had Ashley & Rhett, then an 8 1/2 year wait on the Lord and THEN had Katie and Tara who are only 15 months apart. :) The gap is the BEST! You have great built-in helpers and I know your helpers will be great.

Will be praying for you, my bloggy friend. Thanks for sharing the news! So excited for you!
