Seams to Me

I received this book from my husband for Christmas and have worked on a few of its projects since then, with my favorite so far being the Bo Peep skirt:

It's such a cute skirt, with ruffles going around only the hip section, like a modern-day Bo Peep.

I love that the entire skirt is made from fabric cut in rectangles--i.e. no pattern!--sized specifically to your desire. The only two measurements you need to take are the waist and the length hip-desired length. From there, you figure everything else based on those two measurements. This would be a great project for a novice seamstress.

I also love that you can go simple, using only a couple of different fabrics, or you can get crazy, using different patterns for every piece. I used five for this skirt, most of them from fat quarters I bought at JoAnn's. So the cost of the skirt was really minimal, and Addie loves it. I made her a second one that I like even better than this one but haven't gotten a photo yet. The other nice thing about this pattern is that it's perfect for cold days (with tights and clogs, see?) or warm days, pairing it with a tank top and flip flops.

There are so many patterns in this book I'd like to get to! Have any of you made anything from this book yet?

I think that today, with its rainy, gray skies, will be a perfect day to stay inside and catch up on some housework, finish our taxes, and maybe work a little more on some sewing projects.

These two are already having a bad morning:

Goats hate the rain about as much as cats do. They're all commiserating together in the doors of the barn, hoping it'll stop. I, however, am quite content to spend a rainy day inside!

I hope your day is happy today, rain or shine!
