An Update on Addison
Hi everybody! I'm popping up to the computers in the PICU to borrow one for a minute to send this update. Addison is doing really well. Her chest tube, central line, pacemaker wires, and arterial line were all removed yesterday morning, and I was able to hold her for several hours and nurse her in the afternoon. She was moved to the step-down unit, on the pediatrics floor, and had a good night there last night.
Her chest x-rays and bloodwork have all come back looking good, and the surgeon said this morning that she'll most likely be able to come home tomorrow! Right before lunch, though, she started running a fever, so we'll have to wait and see what it's from. We're fervently praying it's from being swaddled and bundled up, and not from an infection. I'll keep you posted.
Other than needing more prayer against infection, we're all doing well. It's nice to be on this side of the surgery, having it over with, and being able to move forward with recovery. She smiled at me for the first time this morning, and darn it if it didn't make me cry! It was so good to see my regular Addison back.
Well, I need to hurry back upstairs before I get caught borrowing this computer and kicked out:)
Thank you, all of you, for your amazing support and encouragement. Chris and I have both said many times this week that we have literally felt the covering of prayer we've received. It has held us up when we weren't able to pray ourselves. I'll continue to keep you updated!
